For many years, MERLYN has provided custom-made shower enclosures, trays, and bath screens to McCarthy & Stone, the top retirement home builder in the UK.

MERLYN have supplied McCarthy & Stone, the UK’s leading retirement housebuilder, with custom made shower enclosures, trays and bath screens across its portfolio for numerous years. The specification includes a contract to design and supply lightweight slip resistant shower trays meeting the strict product performance requirements of McCarthy & Stone, as well as their customers’ needs.
“McCarthy & Stone were keen to upgrade their current specification and looking for a partner who had all the right credentials with which they could develop a long term relationship.” said Seán Collins, UK Sales Director for MERLYN. “Our products, people, depth of stock and supply chain capability were all influencing factors, as were the strength of our balance sheet and our progressive business strategy” Mr Collins explained.
Collaboration in action
The contract tender process involved detailed negotiation, extensive meeting time, product briefings and included a product demonstration at their working showroom in the West Midlands. The team at MERLYN provided product advice in terms of what was fit for purpose to meet the brief across the McCarthy & Stone building projects catering for people over 55.
Following the lengthy discussion and development phases, the successful outcome was a two year deal for MERLYN to supply custom made shower trays – as well as enclosures and bath screens from the extensive range on offer selected by McCarthy & Stone to fit their requirements.
